About me

I am Alvin Pastore, also known as ‘Alvin Knocksville’ and ‘dexterMaltese’.
I am from Bari, Italy and I was born in 1986. Graduation

I work as a Team Manager for BHW Financial and I am freshly graduated in Computer Science and Technologies for Software Production at University of Bari.

I really like to travel, I believe that each trip is a story to remember and to tell someone. I tried several times to start a diary, but I’ve never succeeded. With this blog I am trying to keep my friends, and also unknown people from farthest countries, updated about where I am, what I am doing and why I am doing it!

viaggi, pensieri, immagini e suoni

travels, thoughts, images and sounds…

Some good quotes. The first three are mine, the others are not but they are very interesting and suggestive.

Quando una mente non riesce a partorire un idea, adotta un ideologia. A.P.
It’s when a mind is incapable of giving birth to an idea, that it adopts an ideology. A.P.

La gente trova sempre giustificazioni per la propria mediocrità. A.P.
People always find justifications for their mediocrity. A.P.

E’ incredibile come per alcuni orrori occorra più tempo per ricordare che per dimenticare. A.P.
It is unbelievable how, for some atrocities, we need more time for remembering rather than forgetting. A.P.

Travel only with thy equals or thy betters; if there are none, travel alone. The Dhammapada

It is you who must make the effort; the sages can only teach. The Dhammapada

Don’t tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you traveled. Maometto

And now a poem by William Ernest Henley that impressed me a lot.

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
